Named after Augusta businessman, philanthropist, and avid golfer Boone Knox, Boone’s is operated by the nonprofit Bobby Jones Golf Course Foundation.
Boone’s will open soon at the recently-renovated Bobby Jones Golf Course, at 2205 Northside Dr. NW, according to a press release Monday. Starting in early September, the restaurant will serve new American cuisine overlooking the golf course.
Executive Chef Austin Rocconi and his team have created a menu around local availability and featuring health-focused, sustainable ingredients. Seasonal changes will be made to the menu based on whatever is local and fresh.
“We will push the envelope for what we can do with upscale casual,” Rocconi said in the release. “We’re not going to be a fine-dining restaurant but will bring the same level of service and variety with our wine and food in a very casual atmosphere.”
Guests will find dishes with “Latin American flair and Southern comfort,” all drawn from Rocconi’s time spent in California, Texas, Mississippi and Georgia, with French touches reflective of the chef’s formal training.
Located inside the Murray Golf House, Boone’s offers a veranda overlooking the Bobby Jones Golf Course.
“By design, Boone’s doesn’t look like any restaurant you’d see at a golf clubhouse,” Marty Elgison, president of Bobby Jones Golf Course Foundation, Inc., said. “It will offer a unique experience that can’t be duplicated anywhere in the city of Atlanta.”
