Bay Point Golf Club Wraps Up First Ever Panama City Beach Golf Championship

This weekend marked the very first Panama City Beach Golf Championship, one of the only amateur stroke play tournaments in the area besides the Sherman Invitational, which has been running for over 90 years.

Sunday was the second and final round of the PCB tournament, and it was hot. Over 40 golfers coming in from around the southeast to compete.

The event was sponsored by Roofers and Reconstruction Contractors of America, Christo’s, and Dew Sweepers Golf School with proceeds going to the Folds of Honor foundation. Bay Point Golf Club manager, Ryan Mulvey was fairly satisfied with how everything went over the weekend.

“The tournament is over,” said Mulvey. “It was a huge success. Just super proud of all my team here at Bay Point, the food and beverage staff, the course and grounds staff, Gavin and Courtney our golf staff. They put on a first class tournament. The course was in great shape. The food was fantastic, so a lot of work goes in to these things. When it all comes together and is as successful as this one was, it just gets you pumped up and ready to do another one. Couldn’t be more proud of the team here at Bay Point.”

Mulvey is already gearing up for the 2022 tournament which will run July 29, 2022 through July 31, 2022.

“I think we are really looking, obviously, to grow the size of the field, but also, we’ve heard tons of other businesses want to get involved in the event and sponsor. One, it makes it even more fun for the players, but it also allows us to donate more money to charity, so really just looking forward to growing it to bigger and better and, if we grow the field, adding some more events, like making that players reception on Friday night a little bit bigger with some live music and some other things going on. We’re just looking to add to what we did this year and make each event just bigger and more fun.”
