Bobby Jones Links Renews Cobblestone Management Agreement For 10 More Years

BJL will continue to oversee operations at upscale municipal club near Atlanta

ALPHARETTA, GA – Bobby Jones Links (BJL), the golf industry’s leading client-centric, boutique management company, announced that, after a successful history of managing Acworth, Georgia’s Cobblestone Golf Course for 21 years, it has renewed the contract through 2034. The upscale, highly ranked municipal golf course lies on the shores of Lake Acworth. It's a beautifully conditioned course that features an excellent golf academy, practice area, and clubhouse.

“This is a real honor for us and a testament to our commitment to Cobblestone Golf Course for all these years,” said Whitney Crouse, a Founding Partner of Bobby Jones Links. “To have someone trust us for what will be 30 years is really remarkable. It's a huge honor and a testament to a highly successful working relationship.”

Opened in 1993 and owned by Cobb County, Cobblestone Golf Course is considered one of America’s premier municipal courses – hosting 60,000 rounds annually. The facility was fully renovated in 2010, and most recently, the clubhouse was expanded, and new practice areas were constructed in 2021.

“We owe a great deal of the success and scaled growth of Cobblestone Golf Course over the past two decades to the leadership and expertise that has been delivered by the Bobby Jones Links team,” said Michael Brantley, director of Cobb PARKS, a branch of the Cobb County Government, under the jurisdiction of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners. “We are proud to move forward into another decade of trusting BJL in their proven approach to golf course operations.”

The par-71 Ken Dye design offers challenging topography and spectacular views, with seven holes along the lake’s edge. The course is also home to many junior camps, golf leagues, and golf outings. And its newly expanded restaurant offers golfers and outings a great post-round experience. Cobblestone has received many awards and accolades over the years including a Golf Digest four-star rating, a spot on GOLF Magazine’s “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” list, and Golfweek’s 14th best public course in Georgia.

“While it is not unusual for a governmental authority to build and operate a golf course, it is rare for them to build one of Cobblestone’s caliber. It is a remarkable design and great fun to play,” said Steve Willy, a Founding Partner of Bobby Jones Links. “This is why it is one of Georgia's most popular public courses.”

According to Crouse, the key to keeping the property thriving at a high level is “hiring the right people and giving them access to business resources, tools, marketing, savings, training, and accounting that they wouldn't have on their own,” he said. “Our role is to support the club’s associates. Although we guide the ship, they can steer along with us, and they have all the tools they need to do it. It's our hands-on style and not a big box management company approach that’s the differentiator. Cobblestone Golf Course is one of Cobb County’s most prized recreational assets, and with that comes the responsibility to ensure it always remains a spectacular experience for its golfers.”
