Bobby Jones Links President of Business Development Doug Hellman came to the position with a unique and broad background in the industry.
Hellman began his 30-plus-year career in the golf industry as a course designer and has worked on the agronomy side of the business as well. He held previous roles that included managing director at ClubCorp and was a longtime senior vice president of business development for Kemper Sports before joining Bobby Jones Links.
Hellman was hired to leverage his industry experience with private club, daily-fee, and resort properties to strategically grow the company’s advisory consulting, leased, and third-party golf course management portfolio.
“Companies that are nimble and responsive to clients’ needs and the ever-changing industry landscape, like Bobby Jones Links,” said Hellman, “are well-positioned to work with clubs that seek to benefit from innovative outside expertise and want to maintain control of key decisions. The company’s focus on associate training and development rivals that of world-class hospitality brands and is vital in serving today’s members and guests that desire a comprehensive lifestyle experience.”
In reference to his varied background, Hellman said, “Having been in various areas of the industry, I believe I bring an understanding of how each area of a golf course and club operates and relate to the challenges and opportunities management and staff in those areas face on a daily basis.”
