Shelby’s Only Private Country Club Completes Second Phase of Renovations to Its Clubhouse

Cleveland Country Club celebrates the completion of the second phase of capital renovations to its original 1920’s era clubhouse. Made possible by generous member support, Cleveland Country Club continues to invest in its member experience as the Club prepares to celebrate its centennial anniversary in 2027.

Boyce and Joan Hanna Dining Room and Event Space

The new “Boyce Hanna Dining Room” is located at the Club’s original entryway built during the Great Depression. Upon entering the dining room, new hardwood floors sourced from a West Virginia wood purveyor guide to a floating pocket door. The new design allows for a seamless flow into the newly christened “Joan Hanna Hall,” the Club’s primary event space featuring sweeping views of the putting green, #18 hole and #10 tee. This $100,000 renovation project was made possible with a generous donation from a long-time club member, the late Joan Hanna. The venue has been freshly painted and features updated lighting, calacatta gold quartz vanities, refreshed décor, and a new sound system.

With the goal to provide a best-in-class member experience as well as to become Cleveland County’s premier destination for weddings, corporate events and private events of any size, the Boyce Hanna Dining room and Joan Hanna Hall will serve the entertainment, dining and business needs of our members and guests for years to come.

This phase of Cleveland Country Club’s major clubhouse renovation initiative continues the casual, upscale ambiance found in the previously renovated casual dining room and bar that earned the Club a 2021 “Golden Fork Award” from Golf, Inc. Magazine.

The Gordon McLarty Golf Shop

The recently modernized Gordon McLarty Golf Shop was dedicated by the Barbara McLarty family during a ceremony held on May 14, 2022 during the Club’s Member Guest festivities. The space features new flooring throughout, custom built shelving displays for merchandise, and updated furniture and fixtures. The Gordon McClarty Golf Shop creates an inviting environment for golfers of all skill levels.

Further plans for additional capital improvements to the Club’s amenity experience are underway.  These projects are member funded, which demonstrates the critical member support necessary to support the Board’s vision long term vision to preserve and sustain the historic Cleveland Country Club as an integral part of the economic, entertainment and athletic fabric of Cleveland County.
