Covid-19 Update from Bobby Jones Links

Juniors and Families – A Key to a Club’s Success

In recent years and with increased entertainment and dining opportunities available, such as Topgolf, clubs have had to adapt to these changing options and preferences.

This sea change in how we recreate is a challenge for club of all types across the country, forcing them to ignite member participation in newer and different ways. “Successful clubs today create happy members and customers through a myriad of activities and programming. It is not just about dad and golf anymore. It’s about families enjoying all types of amenities and activities. The more and more varied, the better. That is why Bobby Jones Links has a list of 256 (and growing) proven special events and activities to expand a club’s enjoyment, both on site and off,” said Bobby Jones Links Chairman Whitney Crouse. Bobby Jones Links encourages our associates to think creatively and entrepreneurially, delivering great member experiences that also promote a healthy club operation.

Members range in age and have a variety of interest, but it is key to find ways for the entire family to be involved. Whether it’s water balloon tennis, camping on the range, or dine and drop, our programming is designed to broaden and excite even our youngest members. “At CCCC Junior Camps, kids can learn golf and tennis in a fun, friendly environment that caters to all skill levels,” said Cross Creek Country Club’s Magen Atkinson. Youth camps are a successful way to make juniors excited about coming to your property as well as an easy way for them to better their social and athletic skills. “Camps at the club are special. They connect children with one another and create friendships for life that include lifetime sports,” said Director of Tennis at Smoke Rise Country Club, Suzy Ihnat.

Parents are seeking environments that help their children learn and grow, but club membership can benefit a family’s schedule as well. Between running your kids between school and activities, working, and taking care of many other household responsibilities, parents often need time to relax. Dine and Drop offers a safe environment that allows parents to drop their kids off at the club for pizza and a movie while they enjoy a romantic dinner at the clubhouse. “Members love the Dine and Drop! It gives them the opportunity to go and enjoy the dining experience at the clubhouse knowing their children are in a fun, safe environment that is close by,” said Osprey Cove Social Director, Marissa Strassner.

Bobby Jones Links’ innovation efforts focus on the family lifestyle. A family centric approach gives everyone a reason to enjoy the club. An example is Harlingen Country Club’s Camping on the Range program.  Members and their families spend the night on the range, grilling out, enjoying s’mores by a campfire, watching movies and playing games. It was an out of the box idea by our General Manager, Bryan Easley, that is now held several times each summer.

What worked for dad years ago won’t work for the whole family today. We are constantly seeking new and better ways to entertain our members, families, and kids. That’s how we make a difference.
