Sixth Annual Mount Pleasant Charity Open at Patriots Point Links on Charleston Harbor

Patriots Point Links Wins Big at the 6th Annual Mount Pleasant Charity Open

The Annual Charity Golf Tournament Raised $6,500 to Benefit Bert’s Big Adventure

Mount Pleasant, SC (August 1, 2018) – The annual Mount Pleasant Charity Open took place July 27-29 at Patriots Points Links on Charleston Harbor. Despite the weather, the charity event played host to nearly 100 golfers and surpassed last year’s raised amount for the chosen beneficiary.

This year the Pro/Am raised $6,500 for Bert’s Big Adventure, the selected recipient, bringing the total amount raised over the tournament’s six-year history to nearly $30,000. Previous beneficiaries include area cancer patients and the American Cancer Society.

Bert’s Big Adventure (https://bertsbigadventure.org/) provides a magical all-expenses-paid, five-day journey to Walt Disney World for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families. Bert’s Big Adventure prides itself on creating programs and fostering a community that goes beyond the five-day trip. Following the annual trip to Walt Disney World, the organization provides year-round support through initiatives such as the Reunion Adventures, the Fairy Godparent volunteer program and additional charitable services.

“Given the unfortunate weather forecast, we are so thankful for the Charleston community and their commitment to supporting our annual charity open,” said Brad Parker, PGA, General Manager of Patriots Point. “The team at Patriots Points Links is beyond thrilled to continually surpass our annual fundraising goals and continue to impact and support incredible organizations like Bert’s Big Adventure.”
