The People of Bobby Jones Links
Meet James Lear | Assistant Golf Professional | Bobby Jones Golf Course
1. How long have you worked with Bobby Jones Links?
I have worked with Bobby Jones since early May of 2019.
2. Where did you grow up? Tell us about it.
I grew up in Oxford, MS. Oxford is a great town that is the home of the University of Mississippi so Ole Miss sporting events are a huge part of life in Oxford. The youth sports programs are great so growing up there as a kid was amazing.
3. What are your passions outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy doing stuff outside with my friends like fishing, hiking, and bike riding.
4. What is it that drives your passion to be a golf professional
Golf is a great game with a long history centered around respect and class. Golf courses always have a fun atmosphere where people are positive and looking to have a fun time with friends and family. I love being in that atmosphere and helping other enjoy there time there with friends and family.
5. Who inspires you in your life and why?
My father is a great source of inspiration for me. He’s is the most impressive person I know. My dad’s top priority is providing for and loving his family and I hope to be like that one day.
6. What’s the craziest thing you have ever done?
One weekend me and my friends wanted to go to the beach so bad, but everyone only had about a day and half off of work. We hopped in the car in the middle of the night, drove all the way there just to spend one day on the beach and come right back.
7. You’ve been with Bobby Jones Links for just a long time. What has stood out about your experience with them?
What’s stood out to me is the positive team environment and the daily effort to make BJGC different and successful. I love working with a team that thinks outside of the box and supports each other.
8. What is your favorite movie? Why?
A Knight’s Tale. It’s a cool story set back in 14th century Europe based around an underdog’s story of being born as a peasant and trying to change his fate. Heath ledger is a great actor and it’s centered around 14th century version of “sports” which I thought was fascinating.
8. If you could have one superpower, what would you choose?
To Fly.
9. What’s still on your bucket list?
Go to the Masters.
