BOBBY JONES LINKS: WHERE HISTORY AND INNOVATION PLAY

There is a reason our motto is Where History and Innovation Play. Bobby Jones was not only one of the greatest golfers of all time, but he was also a serial entrepreneur and inventor. He founded the Masters and Augusta National Golf Club, built and owned Coca-Cola bottling plants, and invented the first steel-shafted clubs with Spalding. Here are a few of the ways we strive to be so forward-thinking and entrepreneurial, too.

• Our flagship daily fee club, Bobby Jones in Atlanta, has no defined teeing areas. The tees are numbered to match the golfer’s ability, but from there, they can tee off anywhere near that spot they like. It’s more fun and saves on tee wear. This same club has an amazing reversible golf course designed by Bob Cupp. It’s only one of four out of 14,000+ golf courses in the U.S.
• One of our clubs has a simple pro shop more like an Apple store where the decor and displays are modern and minimal, a fun departure from the typical pro shop design.
• We helped pioneer the underground range ball shooting system years ago. At one of our clubs, 40,000 range balls are shot underground from the wash area directly into the ball machine 100 yards away. This saves considerably on labor costs, is faster, and results in less heavy lifting.
• All of our daily fee and resort clubs use state-of-the-art dynamic pricing systems. As yields increase, so does the bottom line.One of our clubs has a Himalayas putting course like the famous one at St. Andrews, Scotland. It’s 12,000 square feet of hilly fun, home to the Calamity Jane Putting Championship for professionals and amateurs alike.

• Our Big Giveaway marketing campaigns have sent customers to Australia, Scotland, Mexico, Japan, and Italy. It’s part of our go-big or go- home mindset.
• Most of our daily fee clubs have a 75% remote booking and check-in rate. Customers can go straight from their car to the first tee without checking in at the pro shop.
• One of our daily fee clubs has 16 Club Car Tempo Walks, a robotic walking experience at its best.
• A resort club in Florida rents Finn Scooters for the adventurous golfer.
• We were one of the first adopters of the bell shaped membership plan, the Longleaf Tee System, TifTuf Bermuda grass, Talent Plus hiring, and the golf cart Shark Experience.

Textron Golf named us Innovator of the Year for these and other reasons. We hope Bobby Jones would be happy to see that we have continued his legacy of invention, risk-taking, and change leadership.
